Ordering
Your order may be delivered to shows, auctions, and conventions that I attend. Contact me for details. Furthermore, all orders are shipped by FedEx Express or Ground (live fish Mon-Thu only, dry goods Mon-Fri) or picked up upon mutual agreement.
Buyers in Ohio pay applicable sales tax.
Online shopping security and privacy
I use a Paypal shopping cart, which provides security and protection for both buyer and seller. Shipped via FedEx to a confirmed address, it protects your purchase from loss or damage during transport (excludes live fish, which are covered by my live-arrival guarantee below). The shopping cart buttons are fully encrypted and therefore I never see your credit card or paypal account information. I do not sell or otherwise distribute your information and I do not send you unsolicited emails, except if needed to complete your order.
Shipping
I ship my fish in molded styrofoam boxes with outer cardboard by FedEx Express. My ZIP code is Columbus, OH 43235. There are no box or handling fees, just a flat shipping fee. You may order as many fish as you would like, the shipping cost remains the same! I ship FedEx Express overnight with live arrival guarantee for only $39.00 that includes all packing, handling, and shipping fees; that is a great deal. However, I cannot guarantee the exact arrival time. Once the package is out of my hands, I have no influence over its progress. Alternatively, I can ship to your nearest FedEx office for you to pick it up; that way you will not have to wait for it at home or it will not sit outside in the heat or cold! I cannot and will not ship USPS Priority. First and foremost, I don't want to risk the lives of the fish. Second, if something goes wrong there is always an argument, remember, we keep fish for fun!
SwissTropicals' live-arrival guarantee (on overnight shipments only!)
I offer live arrival for my animals since I am convinced that my fish are among the best you can purchase. In a case of a DOA, please notify me immediately. If you are not at home on the first delivery attempt the guarantee is void. Depending on availability, I will replace the animals or refund the purchase price. I will ship replacement animals at my expense because my guarantee is watertight. None of this "I ship you more if you pay shipping" nonsense! However, there is no more guarantee on the replacement animals. At my discretion, I reserve the right to delay shipping when the temperature is below 50 °F (10 °C) or above 86 °F (30 °C). In any case, I will work with the recipient to ship at a mutually agreeable time to ensure that the fish arrive safely but I cannot guarantee that they arrive at a specific time.
Payment
All purchases require prepayment by Paypal, cash, cashier's check or money order (payable to "Swisstropicals"), or conveniently with any credit card via Paypal for the full amount before any order can be shipped.
A word about my fish!
I do not sell imported or trans-shipped fish. What I sell was born in my home and has been raised here. If you are looking for cheap fish, congratulations, you have found the wrong website! As a geneticist I have learned a few details about broodstock selection and I am proud of my fry. I only feed the best foods that money can buy: Xtreme Aquatic Foods and Repashy Supergels. I raise them to the best of my knowledge and experience and cull heavily, so availability is usually limited. I do not keep waiting lists.
